When Napoleon was adopted, he was already tipping the scales at 100 pounds. At that time, the black shaggy pup was merely nine weeks old.
The Newfoundland puppy grew fast and quickly became attached to his mom. And every time she would work on her garden, the gentle giant would also be around, slowly walking around the yard, getting curious looks from people walking and driving by.
It is not uncommon for someone to shout that there is a bear on the property. Some may be joking, but to the untrained eye, it’s not impossible for anyone’s mind to form that opinion. Especially with the way he lumbers along.
Depressed
Growing up, Napoleon was a pretty laidback dog that rarely goes over a trot. Even when he is actually playing with other dogs, he would do so while he is on his back. He loves getting naps and would prefer to stay indoors. And although he was very close to his mom, the huge pooch wasn’t the type to be physically in contact with her all the time.
But that all changed when his owner became pregnant. Napoleon would always be by her side, putting his head on her lap or just lying down with her on the bed.
This happened at a point in the pregnant woman’s life when she was diagnosed with depression. The dog owner didn’t know why, but she felt sad all the time. Napoleon’s presence helped her get through her condition.
One time, while they were walking by the ocean, the expecting mom found herself by the edge of a cliff. Napoleon pulled her back and led her to the bench where they usually rested. The owner sat down and hugged her dog, sobbing uncontrollably. All through her ordeal, the dog was her support.
Protector
Once her son was born, things started looking up for the new mom. Napoleon, on the other hand, had a new job. He loved acting as the boy’s protector. The dog would always stand in front of the boy, ensuring he was safe.
It’s incredible to see that this family would always be close, and their dog would be with them no matter what.
