A lady from Coachella, California has been arrested after security cameras caught her throwing away seven puppies inside a trash bin. The woman, was seen alighting from her white Jeep Wrangler holding a small plastic bag. She casually walked a few feet to the garbage dump and nonchalantly threw the bag.
Moments later, the newborn puppies were discovered by a man rummaging through the bin, looking for something of value. He was stunned to find the seven tiny creatures wriggling and crying inside the white bag. The man then took the tiny pups and left them at the front of a car parts store.
A good samaritan later passed and found them. He called the authorities, who then took the young dogs to the local shelter. Thanks to the timely discovery of the puppies, all of them survived. They have been given to an experienced foster mom and will be kept there until they are independent enough to be put up for adoption.
Seven, seven, seven
The story of the seven puppies was shared online, and it created a wave of anger and disgust. The authorities asked for the help of the online community to identify the suspect through footage from security cameras. The cops arrested Deborah soon after.
She was charged with seven misdemeanor counts for abandoning her pups and seven felony counts of animal cruelty. If the courts find her guilty, she faces a minimum of seven years in prison.
Hoarder
Further investigation by the officers showed that the woman was a hoarder. Deborah had more than three dozen canines living in her home. All of them were neglected and had some form of a medical condition. They were also living deplorably.
All the dogs have been confiscated, and prosecutors are building up more cases against her. On a brighter note, the officers have identified the mother of the seven puppies, and they have been reunited.
