If you have ever lost your dog somewhere, you know that things have become stressful and filled with anxiety. You may feel that the world is closing in on you, and at times, you may have the impression that the unthinkable has already happened to your dog.
However, you cling to hope. You have this belief that you will meet your dog someday. Dog owners named Bernard and Liz Ahern of Ireland believe that someday, they would be reunited with their lost pup named Ruby. And that day has already happened — after eight grueling months!
What happened to Ruby?
It was June last year when the unexpected happened to Bernard and Liz. Their dog was stolen, which prompted them to spring into action.
The An Garda Siochana or Ireland’s National Police Service commenced their search for the missing Springer Spaniel. As part of their strategy, the police department made an appeal through Garda Southern Region’s Facebook account. However, they did not get any immediate leads.
Bernard and Liz, on the other hand, had no luck tracing Ruby. This was because the dog’s microchip had been removed after she was taken away from her family.
With no leads and no concrete tracks, you could only imagine the fear and stress that Bernard and Liz had experienced.
Getting reunited with Ruby
Luckily, a quick-witted lady (who chose her name to be withheld) in the United Kingdom spotted the notice about the dog. She saw Ruby being sold via a local website. That was when she decided to call the police.
With the help of the Somerset Police, the dog had been recovered and made a 50-kilometer trip from Rossler to Middleton in time for the holidays. This was according to the Ireland team; the police department even captured the heartwarming reunion of Ruby and her fur parents.
With what happened, authorities urged dog owners to take the necessary security measures. They advised that pets should be microchipped.
