Zavod Pit, an animal rescue group based in Ljubljana, Slovenia, received a tip that someone dumped a sick dog at a local park. Quickly, its founder Tanja Vidergar responded. She drove fast to make it to the scene right away, but because it had been raining steadily for the past few days, the roads were slippery and she had to be extra careful.
It was already dark when Tanja and her crew made it onsite. They immediately went to work and started searching for the dog. A few moments later, they found a white dog huddled under a bench.
The poor pup was completely wet and cold. He shivered uncontrollably, almost unable to keep his body temperature. He didn’t leave his spot and had to endure cold days and nights under the rain because he worried his owner might come back while he was away.
Without anything to eat for days, the dog starved and soon became weak. But the overall state of his frail body was a clear giveaway that his sufferings started way before he was abandoned. He was dehydrated and had severe Demoxed mange that caused his skin to constantly itch.
The dog was in a terrible state but he was friendly. He did not bark at the sight of the rescuers and even tried to welcome them with his little tail wag. He knew they came for him.
With the use of some tasty treats, the rescuers tried and lured the dog into a travel crate. They managed to easily secure him, but they knew their work was far from done. They took him to the vet’s clinic the following morning and made sure he received all the medical care he needed.
The dog, which Tanja named Muffin, later on, had a very long journey to recovery. He needed daily doses of medications, rounds of antibiotics, and a month-long of therapy. But, thankfully, everything helped and he felt much better sooner than his vets expected.
Once Muffin recovered, he began his search for a loving home, and he didn’t have to wait very long. A beautiful family fell in love with him and gave him a fresh start.
Today, Muffin plays with his new siblings inside their beautiful yard all day long. Once he’s tired, he chills in the balcony and soaks up the warmth of the sun. His life has changed and he loves every second of it.
