Jessica Renee Silvey and her family were spending time hanging out in her sister’s backyard. While enjoying a family pool day, Silvey suddenly spotted a furry snout sticking through a hole in the backyard fence.
Silvey went over to inspect what it was and found a mystery dog holding a ball. As soon as she got closer, the dog immediately dropped the ball at her feet.
Silvey said you couldn’t just ignore when a dog dropped a ball at your feet. What she did was she picked the ball up and then threw it back over the fence. And as simple as that, Silvey and the mystery dog were playing fetch.
Silvey talked to her sister, Adrienne Anderson. She then learned that the dog’s name is Harper. Silvey also found out that Harper has been playing fetch with her sister’s family since they moved in.
Anderson said that they were so happy after realizing they could play with Harper through the fence. She added that her family just moved in last December and they didn’t happen to meet Harper’s family yet until they started playing with her.
When Harper’s parents knew she made friends with the neighbors, the two families swapped numbers. Now, they love to exchange text messages about Harper and her stunts.
The hole in the fence where Harper used to wait for her fetch partners was all her idea. But of course, nobody would ever be planning to fix it.
Silvey said it’s already an implied rule that the hole will never be repaired.
Of course, Harper’s parents also love playing fetch with her. But they couldn’t play with her at all times of every day, so she depends on her neighbors as a replacement. When Harper notices her neighbors come outside, she would immediately wait for them through the fence. And they liked it.
When guests are coming over and discover Harper, they would be happy. It would turn out to be the best party trick ever.
Silvey said her five-year-old daughter played for a while and also her sister Anderson and her son. It was going on and off throughout the day.
Harper’s primary goal in life appears to be to play fetch with whoever is there for him. And her neighbors are glad to support her with that goal.
