Milan, the head rescuer of the charitable group Dog Rescue Shelter Mladenovac, Serbia, received a call about a young dog that was trapped in a sewer. Quickly, he responded, and the Good Samaritan who made the call waited for him until he arrived. He thanked the man for keeping an eye on the dog until he was onsite.
Apparently, it had been two days since the man heard howls coming from somewhere. He searched for it around his house but he didn’t find anything. Eventually, he decided to scour the woods and discovered that a young brown dog fell and got trapped in the open sewer.
The poor dog was terrified. When it saw Milan climb down, it sure wanted to escape but it had nowhere to go. It snarled at its rescuer hoping he’d go away, but of course, he didn’t.
Milan knew the dog’s behavior was simply because of fear. He didn’t really have much time to work on gaining its trust, though, so as soon as he found the right opportunity, he grabbed it on its neck and carried it out of the sewer.
The dog, now Kana, tried to bite her rescuer the moment they were out of the gutter. She failed to figure out that Milan was there to help her. Even after they made it to the rescue center, she attempted to chomp on his hand.
For a few days, Milan worked on gaining Kana’s trust. He didn’t care whether he got bit because he knew she was a gentle dog, after all. It wasn’t easily done but in the end, he succeeded in befriending her.
Once the pup got enough rest, she decompressed and started to feel the vibe around the rescue center. She met other rescue dogs and cats and with their help, she realized she was in a safe place. She got along with all of them and she also ended up liking Milan so much because she saw how kindly he treats them.
Kana is in very good health and she is ready for a new home. Until her new family arrives, she will spend all her time soaking in all of Milan’s attention and love.
