Max is a pit bull that was raised as a fighting dog in Quebec. Ever since he was a little pup, he was surrounded by violence. He never got the opportunity to feel love or to give it. All he knew was to fight other dogs.
Fortunately for him, he was given another chance. He was rescued from his situation and was taken in by a nonprofit rescue group from Ontario named Dog Tales.
Too aggressive
The staff at the privately-funded shelter was told that Max was too dangerous. When he was being rescued he was belligerent and refused to cooperate. He would growl and bark and needed to be muzzled. Because of his upbringing, there was a good chance that he would never be able to interact with other dogs.
Nevertheless, the shelter took him in. They were hopeful that they could change Max’s attitude towards other dogs. They put him in his own kennel and avoided any interaction with their other rescues at first.
The staff worked with him every day, showing him gentleness and love. Amazingly, it didn’t take long before they realized that Max wasn’t aggressive at all. Slowly, they exposed him to the other residents of the shelter. That’s when they discovered that the former fighting dog loves playing with their rescues.
Welcome committee
Max has become very popular with the shelter dogs that he has been given an important task. Every time there are new rescues in the facility, he would be among the first ones to welcome them. He has become very effective in making the rescue dogs feel comfortable about their new surroundings.
He quickly becomes friends with the new dogs, and he would lead them around the sprawling yard. Max could spend hours just running around and playing with them.
He has shown everyone that his background doesn’t matter. he has proven that former fighting dogs deserve to be given a chance in life.
