When a woman named Caitlyn Radel-Paaby and her boyfriend adopted Willow, a Great Pyrenees, earlier this year, Caitlyn realized instantly what a good girl she was. Soon enough, they learned that Willow always enjoyed cuddling and hugging her fur parents, and she never failed to keep an eye on her human sibling.
Willow had shown her family how protective she can get. Caitlyn and her partner only recently understood that the courageous dog would do anything to protect them.
That evening, the fur parent returned from the grocery store and observed that their ten-month-old dog was missing from the front door. Typically, Willow would greet her at the front door whenever she left the house. Caitlyn believed that the dog was watching her boyfriend and son who were in the other room while she was away.
However, when she discovered that Willow wasn’t with her family, she concluded that something was off. She began exploring the house for the dog and located her quickly beneath the desk in their office, apparently distressed and barking at something on the wall.
Caitlyn first did not understand why Willow was so concerned. After touching the wall, however, the fur parent saw that the electrical outlet beneath the desk was on fire. Willow was there to inform them of the situation, which was beginning to spread within their home.
The couple called the fire service immediately, and happily, the fire was promptly doused without causing any damage to the home. The firefighters stated that had it not been for the dog’s keen sense of smell, their home would have burned to the ground overnight.
Caitlyn was so proud of Willow’s courage and fast thinking that she decided to post about the incident on Facebook. The post had received over 100,000 replies and 32,000 shares to date.
