As dog lovers, we believe that all dogs deserve forever homes. Dogs are incredibly smart creatures that are very loyal to their families. If we treat dogs with the respect and love they deserve, they’ll surely return it with unconditional love.
Unfortunately, there are still so many dogs out there that are living in horrible conditions. Some of these dogs have spent most of their lives living as strays that they don’t have any experience of what it’s like to be a part of a family. Some dogs have such horrible health conditions that many of them are euthanized when they are surrendered or caught.
When a dog named Blondie first came into the animal shelter, staff and volunteers were horrified by the way she looked. Blondie’s entire body was hairless and covered in scabs. Blondie looked more like a mummified dog. Blondie was terrified of people but she’s cautiously affectionate towards the people who cared for her.
Because of her physical condition and deteriorating health, Blondie was labeled for euthanasia. However, shelter volunteers refused to give up on her and they posted a video about Blondie along with a call for help on their social media account. Thankfully, the video was viewed by a woman named Caitlin Beal.
Caitlin is the co-founder of the Sky Sanctuary Rescue and has a passion for rescuing dogs like Blondie. She quickly acted and pulled Blondie out of the kill shelter and took her into her home. Caitlin had no idea about Blondie’s actual condition until she met her. After a quick trip to the veterinarian, Blondie was diagnosed with Demodex mange. This caused her to lose her fur and develop scabbing on her skin.
Blondie quickly warmed up to Caitlin’s other dogs but she stayed cautious around people. For months, Caitlin gave Blondie regular medicated baths. As weeks went by, Blondie started to realize that she’s in a safe place and she decided to snuggle with Caitlin, which was huge progress considering that she never wanted to do anything with humans in the past.
Thanks to the love and care that Caitlin gave Blondie, Blondie’s skin started to heal and hair started to grow. Blondie’s scabs peeled off little by little and revealed healthy skin. Although Blondie was supposed to be a foster dog, Caitlin couldn’t bear the thought of being separated from Blondie.
Caitlin fell in love with Blondie and Blondie. Caitlin eventually decided to foster fail Blondie since she felt that Blondie was finally in a home that she deserves.
