Some dogs spend their entire life inside a dog pound, not knowing what it’s like to feel loved. Most of them get put down before they could ever experience pure joy and freedom. Once in a while, a kind soul would show up and save one neglected dog from a miserable fate. The following story describes this type of scenario in detail.
Journey is the name of a pit bull who had experienced suffering throughout his life. He is deaf, and he experienced abuse and neglect when he was only a year old. He was put inside a small dirty enclosure and only got out when he got transferred to a dog pound.
Journey spent over 500 days inside the pound, constantly being looked over and ignored. He didn’t even have a decent bed, only a basin, and a blanket. As a result, he had developed major kennel anxiety.
Eventually, a woman named Nicole went and fostered Journey. She wanted to make sure that he didn’t get put down. She knew that the dog needed to feel what it was like to run around outside and feel the sunshine.
Nicole had fostered Journey for two months, but she had already known him for about two years. She got to experience how affectionate Journey could be. Furthermore, she helped him gain weight, making him healthier than before.
Journey might be deaf, but his vision is extremely sharp. Sometimes Nicole would think that his night vision is military-grade. Journey is also very aware of reflections, specifically the one on the microwave. He would often bark at it thinking there was a person inside it. It’s silly, but Nicole loves watching it unfold.
Nicole brought Journey to a dog trainer to work on his socialization skills. Aside from that, she has taught the dog how to be a great pet. She’s been thinking about adopting Journey for herself, but she’s not ready to do so since she’s still grieving the loss of her other dog. She hopes that she will find a home for him in the future.
