People say that maternal instincts come naturally to animals, especially dogs. However, is it possible for a dog to forget how to be a mother? The following story explores this rare scenario in more detail.
Hepburn is a French bulldog loved by her owner. She’s playful and energetic, just like any good house dog. However, she has a major flaw, which is her lack of concern for her puppies.
Hepburn’s puppies are quite the troublemakers. Random items would often be scattered in the living room because of them. Hepburn makes no effort to keep them in check despite all of this.
Hepburn and her sister Aubrey, which is also a bulldog, would often make the mess worse. They would defecate on the living room floor without hesitation. Overall, the owner is overwhelmed and clueless about solving the problem.
Hepburn’s worst behavior surfaces when she brings out her favorite toy. She usually plays with a giant tennis ball, but she’s very possessive of it. If her puppies try to play with the ball, she pushes them around or shoves them away.
Hepburn’s constant bullying had made the puppies afraid of her. This comes as a surprise to the owner because Hepburn didn’t behave like that in the past. She used to be a very caring and tolerant mother.
The owner believes that the role of motherhood might have stressed Hepburn. Her theory is that the dog had given up being a good mother. With this in mind, the owner tried several ways to relieve Hepburn’s stress.
The owner tried taking the dog on daily walks. However, the walks only made Hepburn meaner. In the end, the owner had to get an animal behavior expert to help her. Fortunately, this solution worked, and the details of that encounter can be seen in the video below.
