While driving down an off beaten track in one of California’s foothills in Mariposa County, a tow-truck driver, Martin Hall, Jr., was stopped by a dog that appeared to be waiting for passersby. Hall thought the dog wanted a treat that is why it refused to let his truck pass. Being a dog lover, he tried offering his water and sandwich to the dog, but the pooch showed no interest.
Hall started recording the encounter for what it’s worth. Sometime after, when he was about to give up, Hall realized that the dog was in a collared leash which he thought was odd considering the remoteness of their location.
He started to do a little investigating and then saw a flashlight discarded in a trail nearby. He then thought that the dog may have gotten lost during a walk and must be waiting for his owner to come for him.
Hall was about to head out when he heard faint cries for help in the distance. As he started walking towards the voice, the dog stood up and led him to an elderly man who was lying down the dirt beside another dog, Chico, standing guard.
Apparently, the elderly man named Paul had been walking his dogs at 5 o’clock in the morning, when he accidentally fell in an embankment and broke his hip in the process. Before help arrived, Paul had been lying there for a long 7 hours unable to move.
While Chico looked after him, his other dog walked back the path and patiently waited in the middle of the road for anyone to pass by and ask for help.
The discovery prompted Hall to call for an ambulance and Paul received treatment thereafter. The hero pets just saved their human. What loyal dogs!
