Laurette Nicoll was walking in her yard when she noticed a little dog push her way through the fence. She was friendly and she came right up to her. She just craved attention.
Curios, Laurette called her neighbor and found out the dog’s name was Georgia. She was a street dog, but they let her stay with them for the time being. She carried her and placed her back in their yard, but the dog came right back to her.
Laurette returned Georgia once again, and just like the first time, she came right back. It seemed like they had a connection right away. And the dog chose her to be her family, over and over again.
The third time Georgia sneaked into her yard, Laurette just let the dog settle into her home. She felt comfortable in an instant. She was so content and fell asleep.
Laurette called her neighbor again and asked him if she could keep her. Without hesitation, he agreed. And so, she decided to keep her.
Georgia seemed to know that she’s finally home. Since that day, she never left her new mom. She was always beside her and she was so happy to be with her.
Laurette battled ovarian cancer and was recovering from chemo and radiation therapy at that time. Once she fully recovered, she decided to complete something on her bucket list: to ride a motorcycle sidecar. As she worked on getting her license, she realized how much Georgia loves car rides and that she’d make a perfect riding companion.
Georgia was so excited for her first ride. She jumped right into the sidecar and let her mom fasten the seatbelt. She was just so comfortable on the bike.
Laurette had no plans of adopting a dog but she was so grateful that Georgia sneaked in and pushed her way into her yard. She now wants to spend more time outdoors because of her. And she considers every day their own huge adventure.
